Popis: After five years of war and hardship, young people need a distraction from the dreary atmosphere of the devastated villages. In Aisne, the reconstruction is slow. The American Committee decides to advance funds for purchasing land for a stadium and an "exercise field" where the young people will once again be able to do sports activities. At the Saint-Crépin château, former trenches are acquired, de-mined, and filled. Mr. Marquigny, the mayor of Soissons, comes to place the first stone of the stadium, and the event gives rise to a large athletic gathering. The Country Club challenge is won by De Nys, the word champion in the 16,000 meter run. The first rugby match is played since the war. Children's dances and gymnastics demonstrations are interspersed throughout this day of celebration. The American Committee is also called upon to encourage women's sports clubs. The "exercise fields" are in great demand and the committee gives its support to the youth of Blérancourt and Crouy.
